Environmental Policy

GT Care Services is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment, and encouraging this in its staff, its in-house maintenance team, suppliers and its sub-contractors.

Its strategy is to measure current performance, define improvements, create feedback loops for ongoing improvement and devise means to demonstrate conformity to the policy.

In detail, its aims are to take expert advice:

  • To measure its current and likely future impact on the environment and set targets for ongoing improvement.
  • To implement a training program for staff to raise awareness of environmental issues and enlist their support in improving the Company’s performance.
  • To minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
  • To minimise toxic emissions through the selection and use of company vehicles.
  • To ensure it makes most efficient use of water and energy.
  • To maximize the sourcing of local produce for all kitchens
  • To encourage in suppliers and sub-contractors, the use of eco-friendly products and processes while minimising the use of solvent and lead-based paints.
  • To actively promote recycling to staff, suppliers and sub-contractors and to satisfy itself that removal of unwanted material is disposed of responsibly in approved places.
  • To meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to the Company.

Areas in its own premises, that will be scrutinised in the above context are:

  • vehicles
  • water
  • lighting
  • heating
  • waste
  • cleaning products
  • disposable continence aids (resulting in no land fill)
